This week we get to know Alina Dinh, the face behind the fashion blog Style by Alina. As an Internet product manager she works with social shopping and e-commerce sites, and as a new fashion blogger, Alina is an expert when it comes to the latest styles and trends.
Q: When did you launch your blog, Style by Alina?
A: I launched my blog a month ago. I can’t believe how fast time has flown by.
Q: What made you decide to become a fashion blogger?
A: Outside of blogging, I’m an Internet product manager. I specialize in social shopping and e-commerce, and have worked for companies such as Walmart and eBay. Fashion and shopping have always been a huge passion of mine, and given my career I’ve been afforded the opportunities to grow closer to both. I decided to launch a blog to meld these two worlds together as an outlet for me to express my sense of style and offer my unique perspective on petite fashion. I would love to build a career out of blogging, but for now I’m enjoying this new journey and hopefully inspiring other petite fashionistas along the way.
Q: How has social media helped you as a blogger?
A: I use social media to share interesting style-related updates and to generate conversations with the community. Whether it is a picture of a new necklace I bought or an inspiring quote I read somewhere, I love that I can share and express a more personal side of myself through social media.
Q: Fill us in on a fall fashion trend we should know about!
A: Plaid, plaid, plaid! Whether houndstooth, tartan or checkered, we will definitely be seeing a lot of stylish trousers, skirts and jackets gracing the runways and the streets this Fall. What makes plaids such a fashion must-have for Fall is its character and versatility. You can easily create a variety of looks (preppy, classic, modern, feminine, edgy, etc) by mixing and matching plaids with other prints and textures.
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: I would describe my personal style as feminine and modern, however I love to experiment with fashion. Whether it’s blending different styles together or putting my own spin on a classic look, I find a lot of enjoyment trying to create looks that speak to me and tell an interesting story.
Q: What’s the best part of being a fashion blogger?
A: Being part of a community and being able to inspire another person’s style are my favorite parts of being a fashion blogger. Being new to the blogging scene, I am still discovering and learning something new every day from fellow fashion bloggers, which I enjoy very much.
Q: What about the most challenging?
A: Building a loyal and active following is a challenge that every fashion blogger faces. It requires a lot of time, effort and hard work. While I find this part of the process to be challenging at times, it’s also very exciting. I think the key is to set realistic expectations and find creative yet genuine ways to connect with your readers. With time your following will grow naturally.
Q: What are your PR pet peeves?
A: No one likes receiving an email that comes from a template. I appreciate when a PR professional takes the time to write a thoughtful and personalized email.
Q: Any tips for PR professionals who want to get in contact with you?
A: The best way to contact me is by email. I can be reached at stylebyalina@gmail.com.
